LANGKAWI ISLAND

 

DATARAN LANG (EAGLE SQUARE)
Provides a dramatic welcome greeting visitors to the island as they approach the island by sea. Situated near the Kuah Jetty, the gigantic 'Lang' or Brown Eagle measures  12 metres high and is immortalized in slight, clutching in its powerful claws a chunk of kawi, a local manganese stone

MAKAM MAHSURI (MAHSURI'S MAUSOLEUM)
Another attraction that still remains as it was centuries ago is the legendary birthplace of Mahsuri. Located 12KM from Kuah Town, is the spot where Mahsuri lies buried. The mausoleum has been built where it is hoped that the legend of Mahsuri, after the curse of seven Generations, Mahsuri will rest in peace.

TAMAN BUAYA LANGKAWI (LANGKAWI CROCODILE FARM)
Langkawi Crocodile Farm is the nature home for more than 1,000 Crocodiles of various species, making it  the largest collection in Malaysia. Situated in Kubang Badak area which is 32KM from Kuah Town. Tourist will love to get a closer look at these carnivorous reptiles. Best time to visit is during feeding time. Take a look on how the expert trainers toy around these creatures.

TELAGA TUJUH (SEVEN WELLS)
Located in the North-western corner of Langkawi Island, A well-know geological marvel with its own intriguing legends. Named as 'Telaga Tujuh' because its cascading water is broken by a series of seven pools. Not only has it ranked highest among the tourist spot, the lush green forest surrounding the waterfall adds a mystical touch to the nature splendor

PULAU PAYAR MARINE PARK
Is undoubtedly one of the most tourist attractions in Langkawi. Located in the Northern part of Straits of Melaka, 19 nautical miles south of Langkawi and encompasses the island of Pulau Payar, Pulau Lembu, Pulau Segantang and Pulau Kaca, fully surrounded by coral reefs. It features a fascinating diversity of marine life and vegetation.

GALERIA PERDANA
Personally inspired by Datin Seri Dr Siti Hasmah and it is located at Kulim, about 11KM from Kuah Town. It beholds a collection of gifts and awards presented to the Prime Minister and his wife from the local establishments and Government including from various foreign Head of Governments during his visits overseas. It is hoped that visitors will appreciate the uniqueness and diversity of the various arts and culture portrayed.

AIR HANGAT VILLAGE
Sited on four areas of land about 14KM Northwest of Kuah Town. As the story goes, folklore believe that in the legendary struggle between Mat Cincang and Mat Raya, they buried pots of boiling water at each other and this resulted in a series of hot water springs. Tourist can enjoy the cultural shows and witness the art and souvenir demonstrations.

CRAFTS CULTURAL COMPLEX
Located on the Northen Coastline  of Langkawi island in the vicinity of Teluk Yu, Just 30 minutes drive from Airport and 45 minutes from Kuah Town. Captured the beauty and intricately handmade crafts, with its own skill and creativity that handed down from generation to generation.
   

PENANG ISLAND

 

BATU FERRINGHI BEACH
Penang’s northern shoreline if famous for its beautiful beaches of golden sand and deep blue seas. The Tanjung Bunga, Batu Ferringhi and Teluk Bahang share the same shoreline that offer extensive stretches of glittering sand interspersed with secluded cores within the shelter of gigantic rocks. Along this stretch, you will find excellent resort of International Standard have sprouted up, offering a host of water-based recreational facilities.
PENANG HILL
Malaysia’s first hill station, Penang Hill is 830 metres above sea level, is a pleasant 3 degrees cooler than the lowlands. Tourist can ascend to the top by either hiking up ‘or by the funicular train which takes 30 minutes or by powerful four-wheelers on tar road. Up here at the peak, you can see panoramic view of mainland. There is also a children’s playground, tea kiosk and hotel.
FORT CORNWALLIS
It was built in the site of Francis Light’s historic landing in 1786. Originally from a wooden stockade, but later it was replaced and rebuilt by convict labour. An open-air amphitheater, a history gallery and a handicraft including souvenir center occupies the interior. It houses the famous Dutch cannon presented to the Sultan of Johor by the Dutch and  finally found its way to Penang after being looted by the Portuguese.
WAT CHAYAMALANGKARAM
This Buddhist temple of Thai architecture houses a 33-meter gold plated reclining Buddha. It is believe to be the longest in the world. The niches behind the statue houses urns containing the ashes of devotees, photography is strictly not allowed inside the temple.
SNAKE TEMPLE
It was built in 1850, dedicated to the deity Chor Soo Kong, Located 3.2KM from Penang International Airport. It is a sanctuary for pit-vipers said to the ‘servants’ of the deity. These poisonous snakes, seen coiled around the pillars, beams and potted plants within the temple are believe to be rendered harmless by the smoke of the burning incense.

BOTANICAL GARDEN
Created in 1884 by the British, 30-hectare garden offers peace and tranquility amidst lush green surroundings, tropical plants with vibrant colors of Penang’s flora and fauna. The garden is also well-known for its friendly Rheses monkeys and attracted most tourist to come over for picnics and outings.

KHOO KONGSI
Kongsi(s) or clan houses are associations originated from China centuries ago for people with the same surname. Today, the have bacome benevolent associations which look after the affairs of members and also safe guard the principles of ancestral worship. The idea of a temple was first mooted in 1836 and was completed 8 years later. The Leong San Tong of the Khoo Kongsi in Cannon Square is the most picturesque clan-temple in Malaysia. The richly ornamented carvings of the roofs, walls and pillars reflect the art and architecture of acient China and made of the finest wood. The elaborate Dragon Mountain Hall, built in 1906 and renovated in the mid 1950's contains excellent samples of sculpture created by master crafts-men from China. This celebrated clan house is also one of the most intreicately decorated kongsi(s) in the whole of Malaysia and is definately worth a visit.
PENANG BRIDGE 
The only road link to the Island and was officially opened in 15 September 1988, it stretches 13.5KM from Seberang Perai on the mainland to Gelugor on the island. Offering a beautiful view of the open sea, ships and the sprawling coast line.

BUDDHIST TEMPLE
One of the finest Buddhist temples in South East Asia, the Kek Lok Si Temple stands majestically on a hill in Ayer Itam. Built in tiers, the temple culminates with the beautifully crafted “Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas”. Taking more than 20 years to build, it is surrounded with beautiful scenery of gardens, a turtle pond, shrines and sculptures.

PERLIS

 

GUA KELAM (DARK CAVES)
Located about 26 km from Kangar town, Gua Kelam, literally translated as the ‘Dark Caves’ traverses approximately 370 metres of limestone hills from Kaki Bukit on the Malaysian boarder to Wang Kelian near the Thai boarder. It is believed to have been used as a trading route between the locals and the Siamese.

PADANG BESAR
A bustling border town with a profusion of colours, sights and sounds. Becomes a major stopover along the rail route between Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, The elongated railway station is manned by Malaysian officials at one end and their Thai counterparts at the other end. Popular as a bargain hurter’s paradise and boasts duty free shops and a variety of produce, souvenirs and artifacts.

KUALA PERLIS
This is the major ferry terminal for visitors departing for Langkawi Island Phuket and other coastal towns and villages in Southern Thailand. Fishing is the major activity and it has many superb seafood restaurants.

TASIK MELATI (LAKE MELATI)
This shallow lake provides a respite for boating, picnics, and relaxing walks. More than 150 sandbar islands dot the lake and can be reached by rowing boat or sampan. Elevated walkways provide vantage and rest points. 

CHUPING
Acquired its name from tile limestone hill known locally as Bukit Chuping. The surrounding landscape is characterized by lush green sugarcane plantations covering some 22 000 hectares. The natural resource found here had managed to support such industries developments.
